Colts and Patachou Foundation collab to tackle hunger

The Indianapolis Colts and The Patachou Foundation are teaming up to change school food systems in the city.

The Colts will actively support PataSchool, an initiative of The Patachou Foundation aimed at reimagining school cafeterias and turning them into spaces where hunger is addressed effectively.

PataSchool, created by The Patachou Foundation, turns old-school cafeterias into hunger-fighting machines through high-quality, fresh foods.

"It is not just about the meal," Mitchell said. "It is more than a meal. It is about positive outcomes throughout that day, positive outcomes throughout the future."

“Students are getting a hands on experience working in a real kitchen, a restaurant and working on an urban farm,” Kate Franzman, Managing Director.

“You got to try some new things every once in a while, because otherwise, you’re not going to have fun. You can’t lose if you don’t try but you can’t win either,” Urijah, Food Fellow said.

In Indiana, one in five kids face food insecurity and one in three kids are overweight or obese.

"School food is a potential for impacting those health outcomes," said Matthew Feltrop of The Patachou Foundation. PataSchool is "re-imagining what school lunch can be," he said.
