Volunteer Spotlight: Wells Lange

Wells was born and raised on Indy’s north side and graduated from North Central High School. He served in the US Army for five years after college before deciding it was time to move back home. "I currently reside in Broad Ripple and love traveling and hiking with my beautiful girlfriend, Ve-Lyssa," he says.How did you first hear about The Patachou Foundation?I discovered The Patachou Foundation through multiple friends that either work for Patachou restaurants or volunteer with The Patachou Foundation already. I explored the website, loved the mission, and decided to give it a go.What do you love most about volunteering with The Patachou Foundation?I love the interaction and conversations with the kids that we serve. I don’t have any kids of my own yet, so I enjoy being around kids as much as I can.What’s your favorite memory or story from volunteering with The Patachou Foundation?My favorite moments volunteering are when the children remember me from previous weeks. Over the course of the semester, I get to see a lot of the same faces and they say ‘hello’ or give me hugs to tell me that they’re glad we’re there.What school do you typically serve and can you tell us about it?I typically serve at Tindley Renaissance or IPS #43. Tindley is unique because their students receive leadership curriculum from a very young age and the environment is very conducive to success.
